Abstra ct—Based on the WOD13 data of the Yellow Sea, we analyze the sound speed profile and sound transmission loss of some position in it, and summarize its variation regulation. Utilizing the Bellhop model, we calculate the detect range of active sonar at different working depths, pick up the optimal working depth at which can make active sonar achieve the farthest detect range, and offer the essential theoretical research to utilize ocean data in this area and to analyze or predict active sonar performance.
