The growth rate of a liquid film formed on a shock-tube endwall due to condensation of methanol vapor behind a shock wave reflected at the endwall is measured by an optical interferometer at room temperature, and it is analyzed with the aid of molecular gas dynamics in order to deduce evaporation and condensation coefficients. The measurements are done in the region of 1  / * <1.3, where  / * is nonequilibrium degree. The condensation coefficient is almost the same value as the evaporation coefficient (=0.86) in 1  / * <1.05 and decreases to the smaller values than the evaporation coefficient in  / * >1.05, and the kinetic boundary condition is valid in 1  / * <1.05.
