© 2018 Deputy of Research and Technology of Baqiyatallah Hospital Abstract Introduction: Diabetes and asthma are the most common chronic disorders in the world which cause anxiety. The aim of this study was to compare the level of anxiety and the meaning of life with asthmatic and diabetic patients. Materials and Methods: The research method was causal-comparative. The population of study included of all asthmatic and diabetic patients referred to specialists in Tehran in 2016, of whom 40 patients were selected for diabetes and asthma groups by convenience sampling method. Good Behavioral Anxiety Inventory (1974) and Styger, Frazier, Oishi, and Clare's (2006) Meaningful Life Questionnaire were used for data collection. To analyze the data, multivariate analysis of variance was used. Results: There was a significant difference between both groups in terms of anxiety variables. Patients with asthma had higher score in untidiness, lack of meaning of life, and lack of interest in the work compared to diabetic patients. Further, they were significantly different in terms of the meaning of life. Diabetic patients had higher mean scores in life variable than asthmatic patients Conclusion: levels of anxiety and the meaning of life in diabetic patients differ from those of asthmatic patients due to different kinds of death they experience. In this regard, diabetic patients feel disinterested and a great sadness in their life.
