The possibility of hardness changes determination of carburized and induction hardened layers using quantities describing Barkhausen noise quantitatively was analyzed. The studies were carried out on three samples of constant thickness of carburized layer (1.2 mm) with different hardness values. Measurements were made for three congurations of MEB4-C device provided by Mag-Lab s.c. that differed in magnetization frequency. The Barkhausen noise envelope and its characteristic parameters, energy, RMS, FFT periodograms and event distributions were analyzed. Interesting diagnostic correlations have been obtained which can be used to solve the non-destructive testing inverse problems.  in polish Wykorzystanie szumu Barkhausena w ocenie twardości warstw naweglanych oraz hartowanych indukcyjnie na stali AMS 6414 Analizowano mozliwości określenia zmian twardości warstw naweglanych i hartowanych indukcyjnie na podstawie wielkości ilościowo opisujących szum Barkhausena. Badania przeprowadzono na zestawie trzech probek o stalej grubości warstwy naweglanej (1,2 mm) o roznych wartościach twardości. Pomiary przeprowadzono dla trzech kon guracji aparatury MEB-4C Mag-Lab s.c. rozniących sie czestotliwością prądu magnesującego. Analizowano obwiednie szumu Barkhausena i jej punkty charakterystyczne, energie, RMS, periodogramy FFT oraz rozklady liczby zdarzen. Uzyskano interesujące korelacje diagnostyczne mogące posluzyc w rozwiązywaniu zagadnien odwrotnych badan nieniszczących.
