Development of Physics 1 online module using Maasive Open Online Course (MOOC)

In parallel with the development of science and technology, networks are often used in the learning process. A focal example would be the learning through the wide usage of internet networks. This method has been put into place as a new approach where the method of learning through Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) have been introduced. The purpose of this study was to identify the problems that occur in teaching and learning process in Physics 1 subject at University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). ADDIE Model was used as a parameter throughout the completion of this project. The problem was identified and this have helped towards of developing an online module in MOOC. The online module consists of syllabus animated and laboratory experiment videos accompanied with a quiz at the end of each chapter to help the students understand this subject better. Moreover, another questionnaire was distributed to 60 diploma students to get their perception towards the online module that was created. The result for the second questionnaire concludes a positive feedback for the online module created which concludes that this online module has helped students to understand Physics 1 better. As a recommendation for the improvisation of this project, this Physics 1 online module should be converted into an innovative application such as compact disc where this can aid students to use it offline. As a conclusion, this online module can help lecturers in the teaching aspect, where theoretical based teaching can be minimized and interactive based teaching can be focused more in class consequently students can understand this subject better.
