Introducao: No Brasil, na ultima decada, tem se observado um maior movimento de acesso ao ensino superior pelos cidadaos. Desta forma, identificar o discente que cursa o ensino superior servira para uma futura reestruturacao nos moldes curriculares da instituicao pesquisada, de forma a estabelecer uma relacao teorico-pratica entre o conteudo ensinado e o perfil epidemiologico da populacao. Objetivos: Caracterizar o perfil sociodemografico dos discentes em uma instituicao de ensino superior privada no Estado de Sao Paulo, comparando os discentes de Enfermagem com os de demais grupos de alunos de cursos na area da saude dentro da mesma instituicao (cursos de Medicina, Fonoaudiologia, Radiologia e Biomedicina). Metodologia: Estudo descritivo e comparativo, com abordagem quantitativa, desenvolvido em uma instituicao de ensino superior privada, na cidade de Sao Paulo, de modo que se estabeleca uma relacao entre as variaveis dos discentes de Enfermagem e dos demais cursos. Os dados foram coletados do Estudo Tematico “Perfis do modo de vida frente a saude de docentes e discentes universitarios”, do Grupo de Pesquisa “Promocao da Saude e Doencas Nao transmissiveis (DANT)” da FCMSCSP. Resultados: Responderam a pesquisa um total de 244 estudantes dos cursos de Medicina (51%), Enfermagem (25%), Fonoaudiologia (12%), Tecnologo em Sistemas Biomedicos – Biomedicina (6%) e Tecnologo em Radiologia – Radiologia (6%). O perfil dos alunos e majoritariamente do sexo feminino, branco, solteiros, sem filhos, nao exercem atividade remunerada e com renda familiar de mais que 1 e ate 5 salarios minimos. Consideracoes Finais: Pesquisas com essa tipologia contribuem para produzir maior entendimento e conhecimento do publico que busca ingressar nas carreiras da area da saude, alem de auxiliar como importante ferramenta para desenvolvimento de politicas publicas, ate adequacao de ementas curriculares. Thus, identifying the student attending college will serve for a future restructuring in the curricular molds of the researched institution, in order to establish a theoretical-practical relationship between the taught content and the epidemiological profile of the population. Objectives: To characterize the sociodemographic profile of students in a private college in the State of Sao Paulo, comparing Nursing students with those of other groups of students of health courses within the same institution (Medicine, Speech Therapy, Radiology and Biomedicine). Methodology: Descriptive and comparative study with a quantitative approach, developed in a private college in the city of Sao Paulo, in order to establish a relationship between the variables of nursing students and other courses. Data were collected from the Thematic Study “Profiles of the health-related way of life of university professors and students”, from the Research Group “Health Promotion and Non communicable Diseases (DANT)” of FCMSCSP. Results: 244 students from the Medical (51%), Nursing (25%), Speech Therapy (12%), Biomedicine Technologies (6%) and Radiology Technologies (6%) courses answered the survey. The profile of the students is mostly female, white, single, childless, not engaged in paid work and with family income of more than one and up to five minimum wages. Final Considerations: Research with this typology contributes to produce greater understanding and knowledge of the public that seeks to enter health careers, as well as helping as an important tool for the development of public policies, until the adaptation of curriculum menus .
