Following to the previous paper as referred to I , we have performed the experimental study on the spectroscopic detection of excited singlet oxygen molecules generated in laser-excited photosensitive dye aqueous solution containing chlorin e6Na. Chlorin esNa has similar structure with pheophorbide a, one of decomposition products from chlorophyll a, which has been demonstrated for the first time by our reserch group to be more efficient and appropriate dye for the PDT than hematoporphyrin derivative (HO). Using this dye aqueous solution, we succeeded to detect near-infraredemission spectrum around 1.27//m from '02 molecules generated by the irradiation of Ar-laser light by the use of a highly sensitive near-infrared spectrometer as descrived in the previous paper I . This emission intensity was found to be approximately five times larger than that for HpD aqueous solution under the same condition. Furthermore, we have succeeded for the first time to detect by in vitro experiment the near-infrared emission of 102 molecules from chlorin eoNauptaken in mouse FM3A tumor cells using similar spectroscopic method.
