EnglishThroughout its short history, several events came together, social, political and economic situation, which turned tourism in activity that is now in Portugal. Oped 41 years on a remarkable event in the history of this country - the military revolution of 1974 - which had decisive implications in various sectors of Portuguese society, it seems appropriate to reflect on its implications in the tourism sector. This article will take a structure based on the chronology of tourism in Portugal since the late nineteenth century, deepen the events during the revolutionary period and present some data on tourism in the post April 25, focusing on the current state of the art sector. portuguesAo longo da sua curta historia, varios acontecimentos se conjugaram, a nivel social, politico e conjuntural, que transformaram o turismo na atividade que e hoje em Portugal. Volvidos 41 anos sobre um acontecimento marcante na historia deste pais – a revolucao militar de 1974 – que teve implicacoes decisivas em varios setores da sociedade portuguesa, parece-nos pertinente refletir sobre as suas implicacoes no setor do turismo. Este artigo assumira uma estrutura baseada na cronologia do turismo em Portugal desde os finais do seculo XIX, aprofundara os acontecimentos durante o periodo revolucionario e apresentara alguns dados sobre o turismo no pos 25 de abril, com maior incidencia no estado da arte atual do sector.
