espanolLa arqueologia es una ciencia que tiene como objetivo el conocimiento de la historia y la prehistoria para ponerla al servicio de la sociedad. Por esta razon, sus relaciones con la industria turistica son esenciales ya que contribuye a alcanzar sus objetivos a traves de la generacion de ingresos que auspicien la preservacion; investigacion; conservacion y difusion del patrimonio arqueologico. El presente articulo presenta las relaciones que contribuyen a la definicion de una tipologia turistica basada en el patrimonio arqueologico teniendo en cuenta sus particularidades. Ademas, se explican las relaciones entre ambas disciplinas a partir de la revision del concepto de turismo arqueologico y de su papel como herramienta de desarrollo economico. EnglishArchaeology is a science aiming to generate knowledge related to history and prehistory in order to serve society. For this reason, it has a key relationship to tourism industry contributing to achieve its objectives through income generation in order to fund preservation, investigation and dissemination of archaeological heritage. This article presents the relationships between both disciplines defining a specific type of tourism based on archaeological heritage visits. Furthermore, relations between both disciplines are explained from the archaeological tourism concept approach and its role as a tool for economic development.
