RESUMO Esta analise teorica teve por objectivo identificar evidencias e perspectivas teoricas, na area de investigacao da psicologia da arte (sobretudo da psicologia da literatura e do cinema), que possam fundamentar e demarcar os limites do pressuposto de que a “leitura” de narrativas ficcionais pode desenvolver competencias de cuidado. Especificamente, a analise efectuada centra-se nas evidencias e teorias que fundamentam e demarcam o potencial impacto da referida “leitura” na atencao individualizada e concentrada ao paciente, na empatia, na estruturacao da alianca pessoal, na precisao da avaliacao, na personalizacao do cuidado prestado e na construcao de uma identidade alinhada com estas competencias. ABSTRACT The goal of this theoretical analysis was to identify evidences and theoretical perspectives in the area of psychology of art (especially in the psychology of literature and cinema), which can base ground and demarcate the limits of the assumption that “reading” fictional narratives can develop caring skills in professionals with such responsibility. Specifically, the analysis focused on the evidences and theories that underlie and demarcate the potential impact of this “reading” on an individualized and concentrated attention to the patient, empathy, alliance, evaluation accuracy, personalization of care and construction of an identity aligned with these competencies.
