The production of animals with an exact same genotype using the developmental biotechnology has been actively carried out for the purpose of increasing livestock productivity. In particular, for the purpose of increasing the uniformity of animal production, monozygotic twin individuals are being produced now by splitting the fertilized ovum and by nucleus transplantation, and good results have been expected in the fields of animal breeding and reproduction for the reason that the superior livestocks with the uniform performances can be increased more rapidly. Will animals with genetic homogeneity be able to display the same performance under the same environmental condition given ? The abilities of monozygotic dairy cattle twins have been reported to be actually influenced by environmental, inheritance and management factors1). It is being expected that the properties of monozygotic twins or cloned animals can be analyzed further by involving various physiological and biochemical traits, since the monozygotic twins population using superior animals have distinctly higher abilities than in the ordinary animal population. This report presents the results that any differences in serum proteins of monozygotic mouse twins produced by splitting 2-cell stage embryos in which kept under the same conditon were analyzed by the microscale multisample two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) with immunological technique, and their anatomical results.
