鶏の主要組織適合複合体,すなわちB複合体のB-G領域について,制限酵素断片長多型(RFLP)を用いて分析した.16系統の鶏から得られた核DNAを12種の制限酵素を用いて切断し,B-G領域に対するプローブを用いて,サザンプロットハイブリダイゼーションを行なった.GVHR-HGおよびLG系統のB9とIgG-HおよびL系統のB31を除いて,同一のBハプロタイプ内ではRFLPの型も同じであった.GVHR-HGおよびLG系統とIgG-HおよびL系統は,それぞれ同一の基礎集団から2方向選抜により確立された系統であるにもかかわらず,同じハプロタイプ間でRFLP型が異なっていた.一方,Bハプロタイプが異なっている場合には,RFLPの型も異なっていた.しかし,岡田の分類によるB11,とBRILESの分類によるB15は,用いた12種の制限酵素のすべてにおいて同じRFLP型を示した.この両者は血清学的特異性も類似しているので,同一のハプロタイプと推測された.以上の結果より,RFLPによる分析はB血液型を同定するための補完的手段として有用であると思われる.
