Photocrosslinkable polymers are important substances because of their wide applications as photoresists, photocurable coatings and inks [1]. Photosensitivity for the insolubilization reactions is one of the most important factors for practical use. Highly sensitive systems based on chemical amplification have been investigated [2]. In the chemical amplification process photochemically induced acids act as catalysts for the reaction of polarity changes or crosslinkings of polymers. An exposure with very low dose and subsequent thermal reaction can induce the solubility change of polymers. In this paper we report the synthesis and photo-assisted thermal crosslinking of polymers bearing imino sulfonate units. In this system polymers became insoluble in solvents upon irradiation with UV light and subsequent heating. According to the reported method [3], imino sulfonate monomers such as 9-fluorenilideneimino p-styrenesulfonate (yield; 49%, mp 137 °C) , 1 ,2,3 ,4-tetrahydronaphthylideneimino pstyrenesulfonate (yield: 56%; mp 86-87 °C), xanthenilideneimino p-styrenesulfonate (yield: 62%; mp 116-118 °C), 6-methoxy-1,2,3,4tetrahydronaphthylideneimino pstyrenesulfonate (yield: 61 %; mp 118-120 °C) and benzanthonilideneimino p-styrenesulfonate (yield: 54%; mp 138-140 °C) were prepared from corresponding oximes and freshly prepared p-styrenesulfony chloride [4]. The products were identified by elemental analysis and 1 H-NMR spectroscopy. P o l y m e r s were prepared by the conventional radical copolymerization of corresponding monomers
