Automatic computing gradetester of grinding wheels which based on ultrasonic pulse method is designed.The characteristics of the new designed gradetester are as follows : 1. As it is a nondestructive method, it does not damage the surface of the measured grinding wheel.2. Comparing with the mechanical methods, it has not the fault such as tool wear and has good accuracy.3. It is operation is easy, because measured value is displayed in digital value and hence reading error is avoided.4. It is also able to measure the homogeneity of the grinding wheel.5. It can be applied to diamond wheels, fine grain size grinding wheels and so on.
