To unbreakably process diamond film and secure a permissible value of the size accuracy and the shape accuracy are very difficult because the shape of the cutting tool is three-dimensional complex. OSG Corporation and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. have jointly researched and successfully developed a grinding technology for the film of the diamond coated cutting tools. This article describes the grinding technology and shows the results of cutting tests. Finally, it was confirmed that the surface roughness of the work-piece processed with the ground tool was greatly improved.
