The trip is one of the most popular forms of contact with the surrounding environment. This is an important method used in school teaching, which uses one of the most important functions of tourism: the cognitive function. The aim of the study was to review the definitions of school trips, determine their goals, functions and benefits in school education. The review indicates the complexity of the issues and the multi-facetedity of the discussed method. In addition, the task set out when conducting the research was to determine the importance of trips as an effective method of teaching and raising pupils at younger school age. Using the diagnostic survey method, research material was collected that included teacher and student [224] Beata Sufa, Anna Winiarczyk-Raźniak feedback on the importance and benefits of a school trip. Based on the results of the research, it can be seen that the trip is a widely used method of teaching and upbringing in early school education, organized on average several times a school year. It fulfills many important functions and brings benefits for both students and teachers, constituting an interesting element of pedagogical work. Taking into account the conclusions of own research, a trip can be considered an effective method of teaching and upbringing. Combining elements of learning, entertainment and adventure, the trip is liked by students and an attractive method of teaching and upbringing, appreciated by experienced teachers of early school education.
