The objective of this research is to obtain Duration of Load (DOL) factors using timbers with relatively large cross sections and experiments over much shorter time than were used until now, keeping the proposal of a relatively easy DOL test method in mind. The results are as follows. For the case of American damage model, the value of the model parameter of Hemlock was different from that of Sugi, and the simulation result did not fit the experiment. On the other hand, for the case of Canadian damage model, the values of model parameters of Hemlock were also different from those of Sugi, but the simulation result did fit the experiment. The DOL factor for floor beams and purlins was almost the same as the current Standard for Structural Design of Timber Structures. Therefore the DOL test method proposed here seems to be suitable and the reliability of the method will be improved by the more experiments.
