One of the efforts to increase state revenue for development is making tax as a source of funds that comes from within the country (Agung, 2007). Increasing tax revenue will increase a country’s productivity. The success of tax collection depends on two things: public compliance in paying taxes and the government effectiveness in counseling and monitoring the compliance. The phenomenon of tax avoidance often occurs in developing countries so that the government loses the potential for various types of tax for quite large. Tax amnesty is one of the government’s efforts to improve tax compliance. Tax amnesty is a government policy aiming to provide an opportunity for taxpayers to report their tax obligations that have not been properly paid.
