観 測は瀬 戸内 にあ る伯方島1)で 行 なわれ た。 同島 の 北 部にあ る小半島上 の海抜120mの 小 丘 状 地形 で,観 測場所の地形並び に測点 の配置が第2図 に 示 さ れ て い る(1図 参照)。 同図をみればわか るよ5に 南 斜 面 の下 方は小規模な盆地 となつ てお り,北 斜面の下方は海 に連 らなつてい る。 南北両斜面 とも海抜40m以 下は開墾 さ れ て主に麦,柑 橘等が栽培 され ているが,そ れ 以上 の高 度 ではまば らに松が生 え,そ の間に高さ1~2mの ヤシ ヤブシが植え られてい る。従 つて晩 秋か ら春 までは落葉 してお り,特 に測点附近 は半裸 地の状態 とな る。 観測期間は1960年4月 か ら1962年11月 までの間 であ るが,主 な観 測は秋か ら晩春にか けて のみ行 なわれ た。 3.観 測 結 果 1962年11月24日 夜の リフ トバル ーン1)に よる地上60m高 度 までの各
