Ab initio分子軌道計算において、大域的な分子構造の最適化が可能となる高次元アルゴリズムを実装した。構成原子数が多数となる系でも、大域的な分子構造最適化を現実的な時間内で処理することをめざし、8台のパーソナルコンピュータ(PC)から構成したPCクラスター計算機により、2電子積分を中心とする並列処理を行うことを試みた。並列処理においてPC台数を増加させた場合の計算時間を調べ、実時間の短縮効果を明らかにした。ベンゾチアゾピン系およびチエノジアゼピン系抗不安薬分子について3-21G基底で、SCF計算とエネルギー勾配計算に要した計算時間を計測した。フルトプラゼパム(C19H16ClFN2O)の計算では、CPU数1の通常計算に対し、CPU数4での加速率は、CPU時間4.1倍、実時間4.3倍CPU数8での加速率は、CPU時間7.9倍、実時間42.1倍を得た。PC台数を増加させることにより、PCクラスター計算機のメモリー上に必要な2電子積分の値がバッファーされ結果としてハードディスクへの入出力が省略されることにより、計算に必要な実時間がCPU台数以上に短縮されることがわかった。/ The Hamiltonian Algorithm combined with ab initio molecular orbital calculation is applied to the optimization of molecular structure. In order to carry out an optimization within a reasonable time frame even in the systems of many atoms, we perform parallel processing of the two-electron integrals by personal computer (PC) cluster consisting of 8 CPUs with Pentium 4 (3.0GHz) processor. We attempt to clear up the relation between the computation time and the number of CPUs focusing particularly on the reduction of the elapsed time. The computation time for single-point 3-21G calculations of the molecules of minor tranquilizer drugs having the benzodiazepin or the thienodiazepin backbone are measured. In the calculation of flutoplazepam (1:C19H16ClFN2O), the acceleration ratio of the CPU time and the elapsed time are 4.1 and 4.3 with 4 CPUs, 7.9 and 42.1 with 8 CPUs, respectively. Increasing the number of CPUs achieves an extensive improvement of the elapsed time more than the number of the CPUs used, because calculated two-electron integrals are able to be buffered on the memory of the PC cluster.
