アル ミニウム表面 の熱酸 化皮膜が アル ミニウムと高分 子塗膜 との密着性に大 きな影響を及ぼす ことが知 られて いる1),2)。阿部 ら1)の研究 に よ り, アル ミニ ウムとポ リ エチ レンとの密着強度 は, アル ミニウム表面の熱酸化皮 膜 に γ-アル ミナ結 晶が成長 す るにつれ急速 に低下 し, は く離 時の破壊 も, ポ リエチ レン層の凝集破壊か ら, 酸 化皮膜の凝集破壊 あるいは界面破壊へ と変化する ことが 明らかに され ている。 しか し, 熱 酸化皮膜 に γ-アル ミ ナが成長す るとなぜ接着性 が低下す るのかは現在 に至 る も明らかではない。 このこ とは, 熱酸化皮膜 とアル ミニ ウムとの界面の構造 が ミクロな レベルでみて明 らかでな い ことに よるもの と考 えられ る。 そ こで, 今 回, 著 者 らは, 熱酸化皮膜/素 地 アル ミニ ウム界面を透過電子顕微鏡 に よ り直接観察する ことによ り上記の問題 の解 明を試み た結果 を報告 す る。
