Shear bond strength is the maximum strength of a material to hold or accept shear forces until detached or fractured. This strength is one of the essential things in the denture usage, especially in removable partial denture with nylon thermoplastic base material. The disadvantage of this material base is the frequent detachment of artificial teeth from the denture base. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference of the shear bond strength between acrylic and porcelain teeth with thermoplastic nylon denture base material of ValplastTM, TCSTM, and BiotoneTM. Methods: The type of research was an experimental laboratory. The sample used in this study consisted of 18 acrylic maxillary central incisor artificial teeth and 18 porcelain maxillary central incisor artificial teeth divided into 6 groups. Each sample was implanted in cylindrical denture base material with a diameter of 18 mm and a height of 20 mm. The sample was tested using a Universal Testing Machine. Data were analysed using a one-way ANOVA test. Result: There were significant differences in the shear bond strength (p < 0.05) in both artificial teeth, with the group of ValplastTM base had the highest shear bond strength value, followed by the TCSTM and BiotoneTM groups. Conclusion: The shear bond strength values of acrylic and porcelain teeth in three types of thermoplastic nylon denture bases were significantly different.
