—Large eddy simulation model (LES) and the open source OpenFOAM are used in the present numerical study of unsteady cavitating flow around a NACA0015. The results showed a great accuracy with experiments. The validations of the present simulations are strong advantage to solve cavitation problems of turbines for hydroelectric plants which represents more than 46% of electricity in Ecuador.
