The COVID-19 pandemic has caused more challenges to the world of education. To face these educational challenges, appropriate learning media are needed, one of which is PhET, which can be used as a STEM-based physics learning medium, to assist teachers and students in facing educational challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using PhET as a STEM-based learning medium to face educational challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used in this study was quasi-experimental, with a pretest and posttest control group design, and a random cluster sampling technique for sampling. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Bengkulu Selatan. The instruments used in this study were 15 questions pretest and posttest, with multiple choice types. From the results of data analysis using the independent sample t-test, the p-value is 0.000, which is smaller than the five percent significance level, so based on the decision-making criteria, the conclusion was to reject H_0  , which means that there is a significant effect of the use PhET as a STEM-based physics learning medium to face educational challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is viewed from the understanding of students' concepts.
