This research aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning model on the student’s learning outcomes in the subject matter dynamic fluid in the second half of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Batang Kuis T.P. 2016/2017. This research is a quasi-experimental study with two group design Pre-test and post-test design. The population of this study is all students of class XI consists of 5 classes. The research sample is drawn through a cluster random sampling technique consists of two classe, experiment class applied problem based learning, and control class applied to the direct instruction that each class numbered 33 students. The researh data was obtained using instrumentsl such as essay test of 8 questions and student activity sheets using observations made by two observers. Based on the analysis of data obtained by the average value was 24,27 pretest experiment class and control class 24,15, while the average value of experiment class 73,76 and control class 63,36. The observation of student activity were observed during three meeting, the average value of experiment class 73% in the active category and control class 58% in the less active category. The results of hypotesis testing by Veftiana Silalahi dan Sondang R Manurung, Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah Terhadap Hasil Belajar Siswa Pada Materi Pokok Fluida Dinamis SMA Negeri 1 Batang Kuis 84 used different test (t-test) obtained that there was a significant effect on the model of problem based learning toward learning outcomes of students in the subject matter of dynamic fluid for the class of XI SMA Negeri 1 Batang Kuis T.P. 2016/2017.
