The aim of this article is to investigate the utilization of fly ash (FA) modified iron(III)hydroxide (α–FeOOH) in the form of a goethite (G) in the efficient removal of arsenic from wastewater. The modification process of the FA was done in a column reactor to obtained adsorbent labeled as FAG. The adsorption experiments were carried out under laboratory conditions in a batch system. Efficiency of As(V) removal was tested influencing the adsorbent dose and temperature. The characterization of FA and FAG were carried out using: X-ray diffraction (XRD), gas adsorption/desorption isotherms (BET), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The maximum adsorption capacity as calculated according to the Langmuir model for the As(V) removal of the FAG adsorbent was 32.35 mg g-1. The thermodynamic parameters for the FAG/As(V) show th1at the adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic.    1
