With the rapid development of urbanization in our country, people's living standards are improving day by day, and their requirements for urban construction are also increasing. Landscape design is an important symbol of urban civilization, which represents the image of a city, and also plays an important role in protecting the environment and purifying the air. Based on this, this paper analyzes and discusses the role and development trend of landscape design in urban construction in order to provide suggestions for urban landscape designers. Our country's urbanization process is accelerating and the construction intensity is also increasing. In urban construction, landscape design is a relatively new design method, and the role of landscape is becoming more and more prominent. It is the representative of a city's image, which coordinates the relationship between man and nature. Good city landscape can make people happy both physically and mentally and help people get rid of the tiredness of work. Therefore, relevant departments have paid more attention to the design of the city landscape and increased the investment in financial, human and material resources. Our country's urban landscape design is still at the stage of development, and there are still many points that need attention. Landscape design must be reasonable and scientific, showing the style of the city while appreciating the charm of the landscape. Therefore, we must discuss the problems existing in the current landscape design in order to make the pace of our country's urban construction steady and fast. 1. The role of landscape design in urban construction Landscape design plays a very significant role in urban construction. Therefore, when planning the urban landscape, aesthetic knowledge and ecological knowledge should be comprehensively used to make the layout and configuration be more in line with the aesthetic standards of the public. At the same time, in the process of the construction, the external influence factors of the building should be considered, taking human factors and natural factors into consideration, so that the landscape design can coexist harmoniously with the natural environment while being scientific and reasonable, thus paying attention to the artistic effect in the landscape design, which can achieve the ultimate goal of landscape design: to make people happy physically and mentally and relax their mood. Looking at the development process of China's urban landscape design over the years, it can be seen that the development of China's urban landscape construction has a rapid momentum, but there are still many deficiencies in the construction, the overall design level still has a lot of room for development. The quality of designers still needs to be strengthened, there are problems such as outdated design concepts and backward design methods, and some cities do not have a clear concept of urban landscape design, so this lack of attention will have an impact on the overall level of urban construction. There are also many cities that did not connect urban landscape to the protection of the ecological environment or did not consider the landscape design as a necessity or think it has nothing to do with the ecological environment, which leads that the ecological environment becomes even worse and problems are increasingly prominent, which has become increasingly obvious contradiction which must be solved in the process of urban landscape construction. 2. The design principles of urban landscape design At present, our country's economy and society are in the stage of rapid development, and all kinds of construction are also stepping up and developing vigorously. The urban landscape design embodies the spiritual outlook of a city and is closely related to urbanization in other fields. Therefore, we must attach importance to the design of urban landscape. With the continuous development of science and technology, we should pay attention to applying science and technology to the design of urban landscape and effectively combine the two to reflect the sense of the times. With the continuous improvement of people's living standards, people are paying more and more attention to their spiritual world. Therefore, landscape design is increasingly paid more attention to. Urban landscape design should show a good spiritual outlook of a city and closely combine with the characteristics of the times. In the process of design, attention should also be paid to the natural environment to realize the peaceful coexistence and coordinated development between man and nature. At the same time, the landscape design should be based on the characteristics of the times, showing the city's style and unique characteristics, and the city landscape is the carrier of the city's cultural spirit.
