The city of Taltal is located on one of the most active margins in the world on a dejection cone that borders to the west with an extensive littoral surface and to the east with a coastal mountain range. It exhibits on its slopes rocky ledges susceptible to generate events of falling rocks and landslides in the middle and high areas of the hillside, where the population residing in the piedmont of the urban segment that joins the route B-898 with the Serrano Avenue could potentially be affected due to the lithological conditions of the rocky substrate and slopes of the slopes. This research seeks to mitigate exposure and vulnerability through measures and engineering works linked to stabilizing the slopes, using as a first filter the geomorphological thresholds defined by Araya-Vergara & Börgel to recognize and identify the areas more susceptible to slope instability in the study area and as a second filter the scenario methodology proposed by López which allowed the establishment of mitigation works of an engineering nature focused on reducing the level of exposure and vulnerability of homes located in the piedmont through the implementation of triple torsion meshes in the high and middle areas of the slopes and the execution of mobile panels to stop the energy of the blocks and clasts that by gravitational effects would be deposited in the lower area of the slope and the coastal piedemont. Mitigation of slopes susceptible to landslides and falling rocks in the urban area between route B-898 and Serrano de Taltal Avenue
