Synopsis : A spherical bath agitated by bottom gas injection showed two types of swirl motions, shallow and deep water wave types, under certain blowing conditions. The swirl motions were very similar to those observed for a cylindrical bath. The conditions under which the swirl motions appeared were experimentally determined. Empirical equations were proposed for the period, amplitude, starting time, and damping time of the swirl motions.
