熱延鋼板の酸洗プロセスは当初,硫 酸酸洗方式であった が,昭 和40年 代はじめより逐次塩酸酸洗へ切替 えられた。 それにともなって塩酸 と同時に副生す る酸化鉄粉 も回収可 能 となった。当時,回 収された酸化鉄粉は殆 どが焼結原料 としてリサイクルされていたが,一 方,時 を同 じくして急 速に発展 していたエ レク トロニクス分野の必須基礎材料で あるフェライ トの主原料 として注 目され,回 収技術 と利用 技術の絶 え間ない交流の結果,こ の分野で重要 な位置を占 めるに至った。換言すれば,鋼 板酸洗プ ロセスは,一 方で は今日のエレク トロニクスを原料の面で支 える重要な役割 を担っていると云って も過言ではないであろう。本稿では このような観点か ら,ま ずフェライ トの概要 と酸化鉄原料 との関連 について解説 し,つ いで,塩 酸酸洗廃液か ら製造 されるフェライ ト用酸化鉄の最近の製造技術について述べ る。
