Recently, high Al steel (e.g. high Al-TRIP and TWIP steel) has received increasing attention as it has the perfect combination of strength to weight ratio and excellent ductility.1) Significant amounts of aluminum are added into high Al-TRIP and TWIP steel to improve properties of steel.2) However, high levels of Al in the steel may cause great process control problems during the continuous casting, it is due to the chemical reactions between SiO2 in mould flux and [Al] in steel.
