Phosphorus is usually considered as a harmful residual element in steel because it greatly reduces ductility and toughness. So, many efforts are made to low the phosphorus content in steel to satisfy the critical requirement for steels used in thin sheets, automobile and deep drawn applications. In order to reduce the phosphorous content in steel, CaO is used to remove phosphorous in the current steelmaking process and a large amount of slag is generated. To satisfy the critical requirement of the phosphorus content for steels and reduce the slag generation, many researchers were involved to investigate the thermodynamic and dynamic conditions affecting dephosphorization.1–10) The phosphorus partition, LP, was proposed to represent the dephosphorization ability between slags and iron-based melts, and the predicting models were established. For instance, many researchers such as Ito and Sano,1) Chen et al.2) and Basu et al.5) had investigated the predicting models of LP between steelmaking slags and molten steel. In addition, Yang et al.3,4) also tabulated and assessed some models of LP between CaO-based slags and iron-based melts.
