アブラコウモリ耳下腺について光顕・電顕的に形態および組織化学的検索を行なった。本コウモリの耳下腺は分岐複合胞状腺であり, 腺房細胞は明るい分泌顆粒を含み, 介在部は良く発達し, 明瞭な分泌顆粒を有する。腺細胞・介在部細胞の分泌顆粒は中性糖, シアル酸を含むが, 線条部細胞はときどき中性糖の存在を示す。電顕的には腺細胞分泌顆粒の形態が2つに分けられ, 中央に比較的大きなコア状の明るい基質を有し, 周辺に偏在性に有芯性の管状構造が集積する形態のものと周辺に有芯性の管が1層取り巻き, それがところどころで小環状をなし, また中央基質中にも小環状構造を伴う形態とである。介在部の顆粒は電子密度が高く均一な内容を有する。線条部のものは小胞状でやはり電子密度の高い均一内容を示す。組織化学で特に腺細胞分泌顆粒は複雑な構成要素を示した。中央基質と管の芯部がタンパクにより, 管壁および周辺基質は糖タンパクにより構成される。また1例に粘液細胞の存在するものが観察されこれは化生性によるものと推測された。
