ニホンザル顎下腺導管系 (介在部, 線条部, 主導管) の微細構造を透過電顕を用い観察した。介在部導管上皮は立方細胞であり, 核上部細胞質に電子密度の低い大きい顆粒 (外径400800nm) が観察された。遊離リボゾームも豊富であり, 粗面小胞体や良く発達したゴルジ装置も存在していた。細胞基底側には, 筋上皮細胞が観察され, その細胞質は筋細糸で満されていた。筋上皮細胞は介在部の細胞と共有の基底膜で被われていた。線条部導管上皮は基底陥入のある円柱状細胞から構成されていた。介在部寄りの線条部細胞頂部細胞質には多数小胞が観察されるが, その線維状の内容物は管腔内に見られるものに類似していた。他の線条部細胞頂部細胞質には電子密度中等度の小さい顆粒 (140250nm) が豊富に存在していた。両者とも, 管腔側や基底側の形質膜の陥没 (被覆小坑) や被覆小胞が観察された。線条部細胞の微細構造はラット耳下腺のものに類似していた。主導管上皮は多列上皮であり, 明調細胞 (I型, II型), 杯細胞, 基底細胞より構成されていた。明調細胞間には側面指状嵌合が良く発達していた。主導管上皮には, ラットで観察されたtuft cellや暗調細胞は存在していなかった。
