台湾原住民であるYami族, Bunun族およびAmi族を対象に, 歯列弓と口蓋の計測値を用いて, 線形判別分析による性別判定の可能性について検討した結果, 以下の結論を得た。1. 部族別の的中率は, 後歯列弓4項目で60.0074.51%, 前歯列弓4項目で67.8271.57%を示し, それほど高い的中率は得られないが, 歯列弓と口蓋の9項目では72.4177.14%の比較的高い的中率が得られた。この結果は, 先人の四肢骨による分析ほど高くはないが, 頭蓋骨や歯による分析と同程度の判別効果を示すものであった。2. 3部族を一括した場合の的中率は, 前歯列弓4項目で60.27%, 歯列弓と口蓋の9項目で67.86%を示し, 部族別の的中率に比べてかなり低く, 部族別に分析を行ったほうが高い判別効果が得られる事が示唆された。3.変数選択方式による歯列弓と口蓋の9項目の分析では, 各部族により選択された項目は異なるが, 35項目で67.8274.51%の的中率を示し, 少ない項目数で比較的高い判別効果が得られた。
