電動歯ブラシ (前後振動型) の振動数と歯ブラシの毛の硬さの違いが, プラーク除去効果とブラッシング圧に与える影響および為害作用などについて比較検討した。電動歯ブラシの振動数を1, 000cpm, 2, 000cpm, 3, 000cpm, 歯ブラシの硬さを軟, 中, 硬とし, 各組合わせにより合計9種類にて実験を行った。被験者は本学保存科医局員9名を用い, ブラッシング前後のプラークの付着量およびブラッシング圧を測定した。また, ブラッシング後に歯肉への為害作用などについてのアンケート調査を行った。以上より, 次の結果を得た。 (1) プラーク除去率は毛の硬さ間において, 近心面で有意差 (P<0.05) を認めた。 (2) ブラッシング圧は振動数間に有意差 (p<0.05) を認めた。 (3) O'LearyらPCRは毛の硬さ間に有意差 (P<0.05) を認めた。 (4) 歯肉の損傷と出血は1, 000cpmと2, 000cpmで認められた。 (5) 2, 000cpmで中の歯ブラシが, 最も良好であった。
