初診時における歯周疾患の臨床パラメーター間の関連性について検討した。対象は, 過去に専門的な歯周治療を受けたことのない27名の成人型歯周炎患者で, 平均年齢45.1歳であった。被検部位は, レントゲン写真上で明らかな歯槽骨破壊のみられる147ヵ所を任意に選択した。この研究に用いたパラメーターは, Plaque Index (P1I), 歯肉溝滲出液量 (GCF量), Probing Depth (PD), Attachment Level (AL), Gingival Index (GI) および動揺度Mo) の6種類であった。その結果, 各々2変数間の相関は, 特にGCF量とPD, GCF量とAL, PDとAL, PDと (GI, ALとMoにおいて有意に高かった (P<0.01) 。また, 口腔清掃良好群 (P1I=0および1) と不良群 (P1I=2および3) では, 前者の方が, GCF量とPD, ALおよびGIとの相関が高く, 特にPDとGCF量では有意な差がみられた (P<0.05) 。さらに, 縁上プラークがGCF量に影響を及ぼすのは, PDが5mmまでであることもわかった。
