We have examined difference in embrittlement behavior of characteristic Zr-based metallic glasses of Zr 55 Cu 30 Al 10 Ni 5 , Zr 59 Cu 31 Al 10 and Zr 65 Cu 17.5 Ni 10 Al 7.5 . All of the metallic glasses are embrittled with the precipitation of crystalline phases, and the crystalline phases for the Zr 55 Cu 30 Al 10 Ni 5 metallic glass change in annealing temperatures of T g -15 K and T x -50K. The embrittlement behavior is relating well with the behavior of the precipitated crystalline phases and is caused with step-wise process when the several kinds of crystalline phases are precipitated continuously and complexly. The precipitation of crystalline seems to relate to formation of shear band with the embrittlement behavior. Especially, CuZr 2 phase causes much shear band near fracture point with bending test.
