DURING the past summer Mr. W. B. Richardson has been collecting specimens of natural history in the small islands known as Grand and Little Cayman, which are situated south of Cuba, and some hundred and thirty miles northwest of Jamaica. The collection of birds which was forwarded to me proved to be very rich in novelties, containing no less than thirteen species which I believe to be new and several others which vary slightly from known West Indian forms. Mr. Richardson writes me that the island is low, and although much of it is well wooded, birds are comparatively scarce. The following is a list of the species contained in the collection.
