Private label imitations of brand name products have become a familiar sight on the shelves of supermarkets and large, chain drugstores.' These products bear a retailer's own private brand name but otherwise mimic the overall appearance, or "trade dress,"2 of leading brand name products by copying the sizes, shapes, colors, and labeling of those brand name products.
