A short overview of a more than 30 years long activity in industrial and home  applications of solar energy at the "Politehnica" University of Timişoara,  Romania is presented. A built "Solar House", an industrial system for  preheating bitumen, a solution for waste water cleaning and an industrial  hall for drying ceramic products are described.
