The article provides an analysis of Therapeutic Residential Services (TRS) which act as resulting from policies developed from the anti-asylum movement, which began in Brazil in the late 70s of last century.This work seeks to articulate the history of mental health policy with the TRS, emphasizing the importance of breakup with asylum logic for reconstruction of identities in a process of psychosocial rehabilitation for statement citizenship of People With Mental Disorders (PWMDs) forming part of these services .
