This essay examines how participatory methods, such as Participatory Action Research (PAR), can play a crucial role producing socially robust results that contribute to solve complex problems. It analyses the main challenges in applying this research methods according to academic studies and those who use the participatory methods in practice. It aims to understand how challenges can be mitigated by analysing the case of the NGO ENACTUS, a worldwide community of students, academics and business leaders working on entrepreneurial social projects. This article argues how challenges in applying participatory methods can be overcome by having it be part of a well-established network.
