Este artigo busca apresentar e discutir o conceito de educacao para as relacoes etnico-raciais, bem como a importância de sua adocao no Brasil, em diferentes espacos sociais. Para isso, apresenta-se reflexoes sobre o contexto socio historico que permeia o desenvolvimento da populacao negra no Brasil, enfocando especialmente a adocao de politicas de promocao da igualdade racial no âmbito da educacao. Tambem sera preocupacao refletir sobre as configuracoes da escola enquanto espaco de formacao de jovens advindos de diferentes origens, etnico-raciais, bem como problematizar a insercao do assistente social neste espaco socio ocupacional. Buscando conferir materialidade a discussao teorica realizada, apresentamos alguns dados empiricos coletados durante a aplicacao do Projeto de Extensao Universitaria “Na Paz: Estrategias para a Promocao da Igualdade Racial e de Genero nas Escolas”, desenvolvidos com jovens do ensino medio na cidade de Canoas/RS. DIALOGUES ABOUT RACIAL-ETHNIC RELATIONS WITH YOUTHS: (Re) thinking strategies for promoting racial equality in school contexts Abstract This article seeks to present and discuss the concept of education directed for ethnic racial relations, as well as the importance of its adoption in Brazil in different social spaces. In order to do so, it presents reflexions about the socio-historical context of black population in Brazil, focusing especially on the adoption of policies that promote racial equality in the education field. It concerns to reflect about school’s settings as a training space for young people coming from different ethnic groups and races, as well as explore the difficulties of the social worker’s role in this space. Evidence that support this theory can be found within empirical data collected during the university extension project “Na Paz: Strategies for the Promotion of Racial and Gender equality in Schools”, developed with young high school students in the city of Canoas-RS.
