Biogas, considered as an alternative for the use of fossil fuels, has carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) as impurities and it must be purified to obtain biomethane with more than 90% methane (CH4) content and to be used as domestic fuel and automotive. Therefore, it has been proposed to purify the biogas from oil palm sludge (Elaeis guineensis) using chemical components: monoethanolamine (MEA) and acetic acid (AAC), T0 as control treatment and T0 in concentrations of 30, 50, 70%; the mixture of both (MEC and AAC) in treatments T1 30% MEA and 70% ÁAC, T2 50% MEA and 50% ÁAC and T3 70% MEA and 30% ÁAC. The results show 31% CO2, 47 ppm H2S and 69% CH4 concentrations for T0 and 44% CO2, 55 ppm H2S and 56% CH4 concentrations for T0; from the mixtures, the best result was obtained with T1 25% CO2, 40 ppm H2S, 75% CH4 and 7145 kcal; in conclusion, the registered CH4 percentage (75%) does not allow to obtain biomethane because it requires 90 95% CH4, although that biogas has high quality and it can be used for cooking or for motor fuel.
