We have implemented an efficient method for computing the amp lification of an extended source with an arbitrary surface brightness profile by a two-pointmass lens. Using our code we study the sensitivity to an extended source for various binary len s configurations and find previously unknown areas of enhanced sensitivity. In addition we inves tigate the influence of limb darkening on binary microlensing (chromaticity). We provide analyti cal approximations for both the sensitivity to an extended source and chromaticity. Finally, we c ompare the linear fold approximation of caustic crossing to the exact light curve for a binary even t that was previously used to infer limb-darkening coefficients of the source. We demonstrate t hat deviations from the linear fold are observationally significant.
