Lithiasis was induced in rats by fed with a calculi-producing diet (CPD: commercial diet mixed with 3% glycolic acid) for 28 days and was manifested by high urinary calcium, phosphate, oxalate, protein, and low urinary magnesium content. Therapeutic treatment with plant extract (200 and 300mg/kg b.wt.dose -1 day -1 oral -1 ) has significantly ameliorated to near normalcy in the curative group.  It also increased the urine volume, thereby reducing the tendency for crystallization. These results of the present study concluded that S.spontaneum can play an important role in the prevention of disorders associated with kidney stone formation.
