This article examines the influence of neoliberalism on cultural policy in Quebec and Ontario. It explores the origins and specificities of government intervention in the cultural sector in each province and then analyzes the extent of the "neoliberal turn" and its impacts on cultural policy since the 1980s. The authors argue that while both provinces have been influenced by neoliberalism, neither has rejected the traditional cultural and social objectives of its policies in favour of solely economic imperatives. Rather, they have progressively grafted economic market-based objectives onto their existing policy frameworks, in what the authors characterize as 'quasi-neoliberal' approaches. Resume : Cet article met au jour l'influence du neoliberalisme sur les politiques culturelles du Quebec et de l'Ontario. Il presente les origines et les specificites des interventions publiques en ce domaine dans chaque province, puis il fait etat du « virage neoliberal » amorce dans les annees 1980 et de ses impacts sur les politiques culturelles. Les auteures soutiennent que bien que ces provinces aient ete influencees par le neoliberalisme, ni l'une ni l'autre n'ont mis de cote les objectifs culturels et sociaux traditionnels de leurs politiques en faveur des seuls imperatifs economiques. Ce faisant, et meme si elles ont progressivement introduit dans leur cadre d'actions des objectifs economiques fondees sur le marche, le Quebec et l'Ontario ont plutot privilegie une approche que les auteures qualifient de « quasineoliberale ».
