Zeolites were synthesized with phase *BEA and the ratio of the synthesis conditions to the final composition of the solid was determined. The acidity data show a linear trend with the amount of alkaline cations exchanged with ammonium. From the synthesized zeolites, catalysts were prepared for their evaluation in the hydrocracking reaction of vacuum gas oil, where the most active catalysts are those that presented higher acidity and greater amount of aluminum incorporated in the structure of the zeolite. High crystallization times gives the zeolite special physicochemical properties that allow obtaining greater catalytic activity compared with those zeolites synthesized at low crystallization time. On the other hand, the type of cation present in the gel regulates the concentration of aluminum differently and therefore modifies its catalytic behavior. The materials obtained were characterized by different analytical techniques such as X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric and differential analysis, chemical analysis, BET area, ammonia desorption at programmed temperature, magnetic resonance 27Al MAS NMR and reduction at programmed temperature.
