In a sandbar and a stone riverbank, we observed Phragmites japonica. This observation was performed once a month in different five spots of grain distribution. Furthermore, during a flood, we observed about capture of litter by runner of P. japonica. As a result, the following was shown. At the place where sand excels in, P. japonica lets horizontal rhizomes grow up and lets roots grow up at the place where a stone excels in. In addition, the place where nutrient was accumulated was similar. Runner of P. japonica lets sand accumulate in the back, and litter supplies nutrient of the high density from the neighboring soil. Thus, P. japonica inhabiting a stone riverbank becomes more dominant than other plants because of getting nutrient by a flood.
